If you've had a tree cut down from your yard, we understand you may not want to see it go to the landfill or be cut up and used for fire wood. While we may be interested in your logs, a lot goes into determining if we can pickup and use what you have.
Please note: We seldom pay money for logs from residential tree removals. So, if you're looking to make back what it cost you to have the tree cut down, we probably aren't the business you need.
As much as we wish we could save every tree, sometimes the best use for it is becoming firewood. Oftentimes, the logs are too small, the trunk is too short, or isn't straight enough. We also cannot use logs with excessive rot or embedded metal.
We are usually unable to evaluate your trees for lumber potential in person, but can make exceptions depending on what you have and the quantity. If you think you've got something worth milling, send an email to MemphisWoodcraft@gmail.com with the following information:
- Species of the tree (walnut, pine, maple, poplar, etc...) If unsure, send us a picture of a leaf from the tree!
- Diameter & length of logs (to determine the diameter of the log if the tree is still standing, measure around the base of the tree and divide that number by three)
- Address and location of the tree/logs (front yard? yard backyard?)
- Any pictures you have showing the main trunk, and location on the property where the logs are
- Date tree will be removed + name of the company doing the removal
- We cannot accept any logs larger that 38" diameter, as we simply cannot mill them
- We usually cannot work with logs shorter than 6' and prefer your tree crew to mill logs to 10-12'
Due to the large volume of inquires we get, we may not immediately respond to your email. Providing this requested information up front will help us determine if you have usable logs that we can pick up in a more timely fashion. We are always looking for Walnut, Cedar, and Cypress logs, including sinker logs. We also offer an Olive Branch, MS drop off location at our milling site of Craft Road and I269. This potentially could save you a dump fee if the logs are worth milling. See our partner, memphissawmills.com for details on our drop-off site.
Log Removal & Pick-Up:
We are usually flexible with pickup, but typically do not schedule exact dates and times, and will only pickup logs when our schedule allows. We will not haul away excess brush, firewood, or tree debris. You can always arrange to have nice quality logs delivered to our mill location in Olive Branch, MS.
We try hard to remove logs with very minimal damage to your property, including your yard and paved areas. However, we do not guarantee that no damage will occur, and cannot be held responsible for damages or repairs. If we get there and determine there is poor access to retrieve the logs, we will have to leave them for you to cut into firewood or smaller lengths for safe removal.
